In high school I worked every summer in various outdoor jobs. Three of those jobs really helped shape my work-ethic.

  • Two summers for Noltex Truss, where I built roof and floor trusses in an assembly line from 5am-1:30pm.
  • One summer for TTG Utilities, where I worked on a boring crew drilling holes under roadways.
  • One summer mowing lawns, where I worked with a partner and together we learned how to get business and keep customers happy.

I left for Texas A&M University in the fall of 2003, where I would eventually earn a major in Human Resource Development and a minor in Business Administration. College was a profound season. As a freshman I struggled to find meaning and, instead, spent most of my time pursuing the party scene. I was privileged to meet some people towards the end of my freshman year who helped focus my efforts toward more productive ends. I became involved in a church and recommitted to my education.

In 2007, shortly after graduation, I moved to Austin, TX and married the love of my life, Cori. Her and I set out to build a life together. She started as a 3rd grade teacher for Regents School of Austin. I started as a banker for Chase.

In 2008 I took the biggest risk of my life. I left my corporate job to help my parents with their newly founded motorcycle business. They were operating as a three-man crew in my hometown. I commuted 1.5 hours one-way every day until I felt competent enough to open my own store in southwest Austin.

For five years I operated my business at that location. I learned the ins and outs of the trade and planned to build a full service dealership in 2013 after my lease expired.

I purchased property in Kyle, TX in the fall of 2012. Together with my brother, who is my partner, we designed and developed Mitchell Motorsports – a trike, motorcycle, and outdoor power dealership with a fully staffed service center and parts/accessories department on the northbound side of I-35. The Kyle store employs 9 people, 5 of whom live in Kyle.

Along the way, Cori and I were proud to have three children. She now works at home and is active in her church and community. I have finally developed my business to the point where it can operate without my presence on a daily basis, leaving me free to pursue my true passion of being a leader in the community.
